[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Steve Rogers aka Captain America
Age: Actual age is 88 (born in 1917, brought in from 2005), apparent age is around 23 (frozen in ice for a few decades and super-soldier serum slows his aging).
Gender: Male
Canon: Marvel Comics (616)
Timeline: Due to the bizarre nature of Marvel comics continuity, where the timeline shifts and changes so often that it's all but impossible to get a proper grip on when things occur relative to the present, I'm just picking a writer's run as my primary source and using that as my canon point. Specifically, I'm using Brubaker's run (Volume 5), with issue #4, right after Cap leaves the Arlington National Cemetary, as my canon point, between Avengers Disassembled and Civil War. Using some rather overcomplicated timeline detectivery (don't ask, you seriously don't want to know) I'm estimating that this is supposed to take place around fifteen years after he was defrosted.

Character History:
Here's a history link. It covers everything, including the times when other people wore the mantle of Captain America, so skip over the section labelled 'Late 1940s to 1950s' because that's another guy.

Character Personality:
Steve represents the ideal America - not the US government, and frankly not the real USA, but the "more perfect union" written of in the preamble to the United State's Constitution, the America spoken of by the national mythology in breathless tones. A commitment to universal liberty and justice, defender of the innocent and of individual rights, oppressor of none...the real United States may not always live up to the standard it sets for itself, or hold true to its values, but Steve Rogers does, as much as any one person can. He believes very strongly in all of the above, and in the importance of all of the above, and is always prepared to have a debate on the subject.

Because he stands for America the idea rather than America the government, Steve is not a soldier who always falls in line and follows orders regardless of his personal beliefs. When he knows that his orders are wrong, he disobeys them, even goes rogue if he has to (See: Civil War). After the Marvel equivalent of the Watergate scandal, he went so far as to give up being Captain America altogether. He only returned to the winged cowl when he realized that he stood for the American Dream, rather than its government.

Steve Rogers believes in that more perfect union. He's not wearing patriotic blinders, mind you: he knows that no such thing exists in real life. But he believes that it can be better, and that if enough people work hard enough, and stand up enough times for what's right, that a brighter future is ahead of them. This belief in the human potential for progress, and the power of the individual to affect larger systems, inform many of his own behaviors. Wherever he sees injustice, wherever the big guy is picking on the little guy, wherever imbalance of power is abused, that's where Cap will dig in and fight - literally or metaphorically, as the case requires. He will usually side with the underdog, unless they are clearly in the wrong, if only because they're who would need him on his side more.

He has no tolerance for brutality, and even less for unnecessary killing: to Captain America, lethal force is the very last resort, to be enacted only when all other possibilities have been exhausted. In fact, if he can avoid violent conflict altogether, he will. He never picks a fight, and indeed will usually wait for the other party to swing first. However, he is a soldier, and one who was on the front lines of World War Two. He knows that sometimes, killing is the only choice. He doesn't like it, and he never takes it lightly, but he accepts it.

In a licensed novel, Hercules is quoted as saying that "on Mount Olympus, we measure speed against Hermes, power against Zeus, and wisdom against Athena. But we measure courage against Captain America". I have no idea if this is something Hercules actually said in a comic, but either way it well describes Steve Rogers. He's possessed of seemingly infinite courage, which can be seen from the very beginning of his origin story: despite being physically unfit, he tried repeatedly to enlist for the fight against the Nazis, because he couldn't bring himself to stand on the sidelines while his friends and fellow countrymen fought the good fight overseas. He is the man who will jump on the grenade, who will be the first man over the top, who will hold the line when all hope seems lost.

Under fire, he is a calm and tactical leader, one who absolutely will not give up. Not in the hotheaded shonen manga refuse-to-ever-back-down kind of way; he's not at all opposed to a tactical retreat, or abandoning a fight once it's lost. But until such a time as there is no possibility of victory, until the odds narrow so far that they become zero, he will continue to fight. Trying to intimidate him into backing down is a futile effort.

Upon meeting him, people are often taken aback by how nice he is. His manner radiates warmth and generosity, and it's all the genuine article. No posturing here. He will always be willing to listen, to try and understand your problems, and to help you however he can. This is a guy who actually paints murals for charity in his spare time. He seems nicer than our cynical post-modern worldview would allow as possible.

His straightforward nature can also cause trouble, however. Cap isn't so good with matters of political intrigue or similar: Those cases call for a screwdriver, while Cap is a big, unsubtle hammer.

In times of loss (which is relevant because I'm pulling him from right after Disassembled, where the Avengers went bust and Hawkeye died) he tends to withdraw into himself. He becomes more distant, and although he tries his very hardest not to let on that it's bothering him, he also has a bad habit of taking his rotten mood out on people who deserve it (terrorists) who may find themselves in possession of more broken bones than they might have had they encountered Cap when he was in a better mood. He's very much a throw-yourself-into-your-work mourner, so you may also see an upswing of crazy and foolhardy stunts on his part.

While he was always liberally-minded for his time, and he's adapted nicely to the twenty-first century, there's no getting around the fact that he was born in 1917. There's some backwards attitudes still rattling around his skull, although he generally knows better by now than to voice them. It's a different world than the one he was frozen in, and even fifteen years later there's still some adjustment that needs doing.

Character Abilities you would like to expand on further:
The Super-Soldier serum that courses through his bloodstream has enhanced his body to the peak of human perfection. He is not superhuman, but is basically as strong, fast, agile, and responsive as the human body can physically be. In addition, the super-soldier serum prevents the buildup of toxins in his body, including fatigue toxins, which gives him essentially unlimited endurance and a strong resistance to alcohol, poisons, and disease. He's also damn good at resisting mind control effects, although that's because of his own grit rather than the serum.

If the Super-Soldier serum was all there was to him, mind you, he wouldn't be worthy of the title Captain America; He also has extensive combat training. Steve Rogers is an expert hand-to-hand combatant - often cited as one of the best in the Marvel Universe, which is a pretty impressive claim given that this universe also contains secret kung fu cities that get together for ridiculous tournaments every couple of hundred years. As wiki puts it, "he has blended judo, western boxing, kickboxing, and gymnastics into his own unique fighting style and is a master of multiple martial arts". His trademark weapon is the shield you can usually see him wearing on his back. He's so practiced with it that it is practically part of his body now, and his aim is so unerring that he can manipulate its unique properties (it's essentially indestructible and can absorb physical blows of almost any power without any noticable effect) to do seemingly impossible throws. For example: bouncing it off two people's face before hitting a pillar and bouncing right back to his hand.

He's also an expert tactitian, able to analyze the battlefield and determine the best course of action in a matter of moments.

Oh, and he's a pretty good artist. Paints in his spare time.

[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]

What abilities will your character retain in Soul Campaign?

- He would still retain his peak-human body, as that is simply unusual as opposed to superhuman. He wouldn't have the serum to keep it that way, though, so he'd have to work out a lot to keep in the same shape

- Hand-to hand combat ability, unerring aim

- Resistance to mind control effects

- Tactical and leadership abilities

- Artistic ability

What weaknesses will your character lose or gain in Soul Campaign? N/A

The wish Death the Kid made to the BREW in 2009 was to “rescue Death City and stop the waves of Madness from overtaking the world.” By whatever means necessary. Pretend you are the BREW. Why would you choose to bring this character to Death City?
He's a soldier, and a damn good one. Not only is he an excellent combatant, he has the skills and knowledge to lead people into battle.

If your character has difficulty verbally communicating or can’t verbally communicate at all (mute or non-humanoid), elaborate on how this will be treated in the game.

[ MEISTER ONLY SECTION ]

Why is your character a Meister and not a Weapon?
The first reason is metatextual. Cap is always in the role of 'the guy without superpowers'. While that's not technically possible in SC (and frankly isn't quite true in canon) I think you will agree that being a meister is a good deal closer than a Weapon. The second reason is that being a weapon would be a complete waste of his powerful body and incredible combat skills.

What is your character’s Meister Ability? Why?
Soul Determination - They are able to take a mortal blow once and withstand it. While it does not heal them, they are given the strength to continue on in battle.
Soul Coordinate - Makes group resonance of up to two teams, own included, easier.
Manly Soul - Their soul has the power to inspire confidence and morale in comrades and allies.

Soul Determination would be a good fit for him because it works nicely with his never-say-die attitude. He's the guy who refuses to ever back down, who will continue the fight until he wins or he literally cannot. The other two are a good fit because they work with his natural leadership abilities: He is both an excellent tactical leader (thus, soul soordination) and an inspirational figure on the battlefield (Manly Soul).

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Describe your character’s soul with six adjectives.
hopeful, courageous, caring, honest, optimistic, hardworking

What does your character’s soul look like? Be creative.
A blue soul with an A on the forehead. Usually has a comforting grin on its face.

[ SAMPLES ]

Provide a First Person style sample in the form of a post to the DEMISE network.[Video]

[The video feed opens up on Cap's face. He's outside under the hot nevadan sun. The expression on his face is one of both bafflement and worry.]

You'll all have to excuse me if this is a stupid question. But this is a new world to me, and I'm still learning the ground rules. So if somebody could tell me if that...

[The feed shakes as he reorients it. When he's done the screen is pointed at the sun, which is laughing down as if it finds his confusion hilarious.]

...is normal, I'd appreciate it. Either way, it's kind of unsettling.

Provide a Third Person sample set during the last minutes on their world and/or their first few moments in the Kishin Chamber.
The motorcycle's engine hummed beneath him, sending vibrations through his uniform's protective chainmail and into his thighs. Lieutenant Keller and the Arlington National Cemetary receded into the distance behind him, but the image of the defiled gravestones refused to go with them. It stuck in Steve Rogers' head, like the neon afterimage from looking into the sun.

They deserve better than that, he thought, his jaw set into a grimace. William Naslund. Jeffery Mace. They had both served their country well, even before they had taken on the mantle of Captain America, filling the role while Steve was frozen in arctic waters. They should be left to rest in peace, not be disturbed to make a cheap shot at me.

Was there any chance at all that it wasn't directed at him, he wondered? Very little. It would be one hell of a coincidence, vandalizing the graves of both of the former Captain Americas. He'd think it was the Red SKull's doing - it certainly smacked of his disdain for human life and decency - except that Bucky's grave was left alone. The Skull never missed a chance to taunt him with Bucky's memory.

And besides, the Skull was dead. Of course, they'd thought that before...but it seemed like it might be for real this time. That was hard coming to terms with. The Red Skull had been a constant in his life. He was the reason Captain America was created, and when Steve had emerged from the polar ice, he was still there, as if waiting for him to return. Life without the Red Skull, without Johann Schmidt dogging his heels...it still hardly seemed real to Steve. It wasn't quite like losing a close friend (and Lord knew he'd known that feeling too often of late), but it was uncomfortably close.

Steve revved the engine up, forcing thoughts of the Red Skull out of his mind. He had enough to worry about with the living without battling the dead as well. Someone out there had intended this as a message to him, and it wasn't a red-faced ghost.

(Or at least, he sure hoped it wasn't. You never could tell in this line of work.)
